You can take a look at the programs offered by the government and determine if your child is eligible. You may also seek help from private financial institutions to offer cash loans so you can use it to spend for your child’s tuition fees.

State Scholarship Program

This is a program offered by the Commission on Higher Education to high school graduates who have excellent grades. Those who got an average of 90% or higher are eligible for the financial assistance of PhP30,000 a year. Those who have 85% or better can avail ofa partial scholarship of PhP15,000 a year. They may also apply for the Private Education Student Financial Assistance or PESFA. This is given to students with a GPA of 85% or better.

CHED also offers the TulongDunong Program to students who have passed the Alternative Learning System (ALS). They are entitled to smaller amounts of financial assistance a year. A study now pay later program is also offered by CHED to families that have financial problems. Aside from CHED, the Department of Science and Technology also offers scholarship to deserving students who have passed the DOST exams. They are only allowed to take science and technology courses in state universities though.

Private banks

If your child is not eligible in any of these governmental programs, you can work it out by looking for the money yourself. There are a lot of banks that are willing to provide educational loans at a lower interest rate and a more flexible repayment scheme. You just need to look at what banks can offer an affordable rate and a good repayment scheme.
